Reach Up requires well-trained human resources to implement an early childhood parenting programme in a community.
WHO CONDUCTS THE TRAINING?
To maintain the fidelity of the intervention, we recommend that training of trainers be conducted by an experienced Reach Up team member. These trainers are then certified to conduct training with the other members of their implementation team.
TRAINING APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY
To enable interaction and feedback, workshop attendance is usually limited to approximately 15 participants per session. The training workshops are held over a 2-week period, with 38 sessions, lasting up to two hours. The sessions are broken down into four categories:
- Methods (15 sessions)
- Toys/Activities (12 sessions)
- Toy Making (4 sessions)
- Home Visit Practice (5 – 7 sessions)
The videos are used to illustrate methods and activities in the training sessions. Following the workshop training, home visitors are usually accompanied on practice home visits.
